Shop Plug Adapters By Country
Our extensive range of travel plug adapters cover most major countries across the globe. We have travel plug adapters to convert US NEMA and IEC plugs to Europe, Asia, and Africa plug types, and vice versa, so we will cover all your travel and appliance needs.
European Plug Adapters
European CEE 7/7
More countries use the CEE 7/7 plug than any other country in the world. It’s used in a lot of European countries and some African countries. It’s popular and practical — going up to 16 amps instead of just two-and-a-half amps, but it’s also big and bulky.
European CEE 7/16
The European CEE 7/16 is arguably the second most common type of European power cord type in use. It has two prongs, and is the European equivalent of the NEMA 1-15 power cord.

The CEE 7/16 has no grounding. It consists of just two round pins. Some of the reasons behind its popularity are that it’s very small, and very applicable to small electrical products that do not require grounding. The CEE 7/16 is used far and wide, in 113 countries all over the world, from Afghanistan to Vietnam.
UK BS 1363
The BS 1363 is the UK standard power cord type. The plug for a BS 1363 is much bigger than most other plug types, and actually has a fuse built into it.
The BS 1363 plug socket is one of the best-designed and safest. The ground pin on BS 1363 cords is longer than the live neutral pins, so it always goes into the plug socket first. This helps to prevent shock. On top of that, both the live and the neutral pins are insulated up to a certain point.

Frequently Asked Question
At SIGNAL + POWER, we stock a wide range of adapters to fit international plugs, including Types A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, and O. You can find out which adapter you need by shopping by country.
South Africa is a tricky one as it uses four types of power outlets, Type M, Type C, Type F, and Type N. Type C (Europlug) and Type F (Scuhko) are widely used in Europe. Type M or (SANS 164-1) is the old South African standard but it’s the most commonly used. It’s very common in older homes, hotels, and offices. However, Type N (SANS 164-2) is the new standard which you’ll find in newer homes and modern buildings.
If you want to make sure your device can be powered when traveling in Europe, you’ll need adapters for all 4 types of outlets that you’ll encounter or a newer universal travel adapter that has type N. Many do not.
It depends. In the US, your normal power outlet uses 120 volts. Most devices that you travel with such as laptops or phones are dual-voltage and can handle 100-240 volts.
Check to see if your device is dual-voltage. If so, you only need a plug adapter and not a converter. If your device doesn’t match your destination’s voltage, you’ll need a voltage converter in addition to a plug adapter.
