Unlike LSZH bulk wire, LSF bulk wires are manufactured using PVC compounds. If they are labelled as low-smoke and fume, it is due to the manufacturer modifying the compound with various additives to reduce (not eliminate) smoke and HCl emissions. However, where low smoke zero halogen bulk wires are subject to strict standards, there are no standards governing LSF bulk wires.
LSZH cables are eco-friendlier, emitting fewer pollutants during both their use and disposal. PVC cables, by contrast, release chlorine gas when burned, contributing to dioxin production and environmental harm.
